Tarmac Publishes New EPD Across Key Product Categories

Tarmac has published a series of new Environmental Product Declarations covering
several products within its aggregates, mortar and cement ranges. Each EPD has been
developed using lifecycle analysis (LCA) aligned to EN 15804, the recognised industry standard for environmental declarations in construction.

Crucially, all EPD have been independently verified by a globally recognised third‑party accredited body, ensuring customers receive high quality, consistent and comparable data.

These new EPD strengthen the ability of project teams to evaluate materials accurately, support compliance with sustainability requirements and identify opportunities to reduce embodied carbon.

As customers, designers and delivery partners increasingly look to reduce embodied carbon, transparent and comparable product data has become essential. Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) play a crucial role by providing clear, independently verified lifecycle information that helps eliminate assumptions and supports lower carbon material selection.

EPD give project teams the confidence to compare environmental impacts using consistent metrics. They detail performance and emissions across the entire lifecycle of a product, including raw material extraction, manufacturing, transport, installation and end‑of‑life stages.

Supporting EPD With Broader Carbon Footprinting Tools

Alongside its verified EPD, Tarmac also provides product‑specific carbon footprint information, aligned with PAS 2050:2011 and asPECT v3.0, giving customers clear cradle‑to‑gate carbon data to support material choices and sustainability reporting.

Tarmac also offers a CEVO Concrete Carbon Calculator, enabling users to compare options and download footprint certificates for use in tenders and project assessments.

These tools complement the new EPD by providing customers with multiple, reliable ways to access transparent carbon information.

Looking Ahead

The publication of these new EPD represents a significant step forward in strengthening transparent and comparable carbon metrics across construction. By giving customers access to verified lifecycle data, Tarmac is supporting more accurate decision making and lower carbon project delivery.

Alongside this, the CEVO Concrete Carbon Calculator already gives users quick access to embodied carbon data, with future development focused on expanding this approach to CEVO Asphalt products, offering a consistent approach and service to supporting our customers in these decarbonisation ambitions.
