Tarmac awarded silver by the 5% club

“Being a member of the 5% Club supports our long-term commitment to developing the talent pipeline in our industry. Early to career programmes are extremely important to us. By being a member and reporting publicly our progress towards this 5% ambition, we further illustrate the responsibilities we are undertaking.”
Melanie Buswell, Despatch Planning Manager for Materials
The 5% Club is a dynamic movement of employers committed to building and developing the workforce they need as part of a socially mobile, prosperous and cohesive nation. The club exists to help its members and all employers increase the number, quality and range of ‘earn as you learn’ opportunities across the UK.
The 5% Club launched this new annual research programme to support and validate employers as they work towards recruiting and employing at least 5% of their UK workforce on graduate, apprenticeships of other ‘earn as you learn’ training programmes.
The new Employer Audit provides each employer taking part with an official accreditation as either a bronze, silver or gold member. We are proud that in 2021 we achieved the silver award for this audit. This means that over 2.5% of our workforce are on earn and learn schemes and we are on the path to this being 5% of our workforce.
