Mile-a-Day challenge

“The significant funds raised for the Wier Archer Foundation and the miles registered in the Mile A Day Challenge are testament to the generosity, dedication and resilience of our Tarmac team. Congratulations and sincere thanks to all of you who either participated or supported Weir Archer with your donations.”
Peter Buckley, Senior Vice President, UK and Ireland
For 28 days in February 2021, Tarmac employees walked, ran, cycled, rowed, HIIT and yoga-ed their way to improving wellbeing and raising much-needed funds for disabled athletics.
We asked everyone to sign up and move for at least a mile a day and this is what we accomplished. Team Tarmac’s total miles in February: 22,042 with 215 people recording miles Total raised for Weir Archer Academy: £5,179 with Gift Aid.
We started the Mile-a-Day Challenge to help everyone invest in their wellbeing and form positive habits that would carry on throughout the year. We also used the challenge to raise further money for the Weir Archer Academy
Andy Shuttlewood, HSEQ Director, said: “’What a great initiative this proved to be, lots of people improving their personal physical wellbeing whilst also supporting a great cause, a real double win! Well done and thanks to all involved – not just those at the top of leader boards but each and every person who did something, especially those who wouldn’t have normally done these kinds of things. Just brilliant.”
