ISO 45001 certification achieved
Our teams have successfully achieved certification to the international standard ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
The standard specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety management system (OH&S), and gives guidance for its use, to enable organisations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance
To achieve this certification, BSI conducted over 50 site audits across Materials and BP sites as well as a number conducted by the Quality and Assurance team. All this demonstrates Tarmac’s commitment to health, safety and welfare of our employees and the importance of ‘Work Safe, Home Safe’.
Wayne Darwin, HSE Assurance & Governance manager, said: “We are exceptionally proud of this achievement and the work that has gone in across the business to achieve this milestone, especially given the backdrop of the current pandemic. This is testament to the personal ownership of health and safety our employees have shown and their belief in the ‘Work Safe, Home Safe’ message. Looking ahead, we will continue to work hard to further reduce workplace incidents and ensure our colleagues can return home safely each day.” ISO 45001 replaces OHSAS 18001 and alongside our Quality, Environmental and Energy systems provides the basis for delivery and continuous improvement in Tarmac.
